Damage Control

Life is all about damage control. Mine is, anyway. Is yours?

This post was depressing, even after I left some bad parts out, so I deleted it. I left the pictures so you can make up the story you want.

More 5photos1day , Sourcing Pergolide

Sourcing Pergolide... Some of you will know.
Yndi's ACTH test came back positive for Cushing's Syndrome. Pergolide, the medication for that, can be expensive so it pays to shop around. Actually, I mentioned it to Dave who seems to enjoy comparison shopping, so he is doing most of the work.

She's doing a MAJOR spring shed, which means we got the Cushing's early enough to be happy. I freed up a lot of hair for bird nests. Those familiar with Cushing's will know that a more advanced symptom is failure to shed. Yndi is 23 years old on May 1st.

I drove Pepper up Kincaid Road. Dave surprised me by waiting at the gate to video. This picture is ten feet from the end and Pepper's unhooking spot. She did not want to stop.

#5photos1day #horsebloggers Challenge

A Week Ago Yesterday

My shoer got divorced and moved away. My new shoer seemed great, but he wouldn't get back to me about scheduling another visit, or even when I could trailer to him. Yndi's feet were looking really bad. So I scheduled someone else It was a 2 hour trailer ride, so I scheduled the vet for a digestive issue on the same day, thus saving $100.00 in call fee.

The shoer found laminitis. Good thing the vet was coming. Lots of x-rays and progressive trimming. Long long day. Meds four times a day since then, that she didn't want to eat.

Now her ACTH test has coms back positive for Cushing's disease. I need to comparison shop for Pergolide. It can get expensive.

In the meantime: #horsebloggers #haynet is having a #5photos1day challenge:

My mother taught me to be nice.

Gratuitous pony pic, not mine

From Susanna Breslin, of Forbes. Sept 26, 2011
"I could make a list of all the various personality characteristics of which I am not a fan, but waffler is really up there at the top. Sometimes women are wafflers, even more so than men, because it's easier to be nice. Actually, it's not easier to be nice. It's easier for everyone else for you to be nice, but it's harder for you, because you never say what you really think, and nobody ever knows, and then you want to go home and saw at your wrists with a dull bread knife.

Gratuitous Photoshop prompt, mine, feel free to steal
"Unfortunately, I've noticed this waffling behavior among women bloggers -- who take a stand and then back off it, who form an opinion and then apologize for it, who write a bold post and then delete it -- and among young female journalists. These are not great bloggers nor great journalists. They are jellyfish."
My blog entry:
It's hard to be nice. Many people, especially women,  will confront you for not being nice. When this happens to me, I back off, I didn't mean to offend. If I were aggressive, I would ask: "How could you accuse me of offending you? How awful!" But  I back down, appease at all costs. These are not my friends, but I don't need new enemies. They are threatening to become my new enemies and they are wining control. They are now in charge, they are now the alpha mare. I am not. Now I am the mare in the back of the herd that cannot get any hay and must be separated.

Let me measure your brain

I can't figure out how not to be me. I don't like to be me. I go home and sit down with a book. I stare at the page. My stress level during my staring activity is about what you would expect while waiting your turn to give a speech in class in 7th grade. Maybe if I go to sleep, I will wake up as someone else.

#5photos1day #horsebloggers

Challenge on Horsebloggers. There are some good blogs here too. Here is my challenge. These photos were taken yesterday. My connectivity problems kept me from blogging them. I spent most of my day volunteering at a Rabbit Haven Rescue adoption event in Sunnyvale.

So here. Two Gotland Ponies, a pregnant goat and a barn cat.
